MJ’s is a busy, fast paced take away cafe located alongside the Boyne River in Boyne Island on the main road that connects Tannum Sands to Gladstone. There is constant passing traffic and also a walking path that trails along the river from the Boyne golf club, to the river mouth and the Tannum Sands esplanade.
WHAT WE DO:
MJ’s provide take-away style food that is consistently fresh, tasty and affordable. The clientele include a wide local customer base from Tannum, Gladstone, Calliope, Benaraby & Boyne. MJ’s has a lot of tradie ‘smoko’ trade, and farmers from Boyne Valley and beyond love to stop in when they come into town.
We are currently open 7 days from 8am to 8pm. We also have busy trading periods during school holidays, festive seasons and long-weekends with many travellers and holiday makers and locals.
MJ’s is easily accessible, has plenty of parking space and is very family friendly. We have a lovely spacious outdoor dining area, or food can be taken a short drive to the beaches or parks.
We source our stock from local suppliers, butchers and bakery.
Currently there are 12 staff at MJ’s, including 2 owner/managers, who all work on a casual roster.
Potential buyers have the opportunity to keep employment of the junior staff. Training options including a handover period and potential to hire (Jacqui and/or Sarah) for a period of time while the buyer settles in.
My highlights from working at MJ’s have been the opportunity to work with my mum & sisters every day, not many people have this chance.
I am also proud to have employed so many junior staff members, offering them their first paid job and seeing them grow their confidence and skills throughout their high school years.
I am thankful every day of the loyal customers in our local community, I have made many connections with regular customers and get to have lots of laughs and chats every day.
Living and working in Boyne Island feels like paradise to me having grown up in country Victoria, I walk the path along the river each day to work and enjoy the weather and the views.
